Marine Bulk Carriers (Pty) Ltd (MBC) was established in August 2003 by a small group of experienced South African shipping personalities to increase the country’s participation in the bulk shipment of commodities from South Africa.

MBC is a Cape Town based black empowered company and has entered into strategic partnerships with South African raw material exporters and international bulk cargo shipping companies to facilitate long-term relationships that will contribute to building the local maritime industry in line with the vision of the Maritime Transport and Services Black Economic Empowerment Charter.

MBC now manages a number of Cape-size and Panamax bulk carriers, as well as several anchor handling tugs employed in the off-shore oil exploration industry.

MBC has established an international partnership with one of the world’s leading shipping companies, Sanko Steamship Co of Japan, and has also become a significant partner for PetroSA, the South African off-shore oil exploration business through the provision of anchor handling tugs.
